RNS to supply DAS for Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital

Following the successful installation in Netcare’s Christian Barnard Hospital in 2017,RNS has recently been nominated to supply a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the new Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Parktown, Gauteng.

The healthcare industry has changed dramatically over the past few years. Hospitals across the world, including Europe and the USA, are adapting and leading the digital transformation, and South Africa is no different.

Healthcare is increasingly becoming more digitised, reshaping the way in which hospitals operate. There is a growing need to deploy sophisticated information systems and wireless technology. Frost and Sullivan Research Service states: “The popularity of wireless and handheld devices in the healthcare arena is poised to increase against a backdrop of technology savvy patients and the evident benefits of mobility and flexibility. The drive to reduce cost and improve efficiency without compromising on patient safety and service quality is having a positive impact on the uptake of wireless technology in healthcare.”

The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital strives to achieve the dream of its namesake, to be a state-of-the-art, specialised paediatric facility that serves the children of Southern Africa. RNS’ integrated solutions will ensure that the Hospital’s wireless technology brings it another step closer to realising and maintaining this goal.

“As more healthcare facilities in Africa are utilising innovative communications and wireless technology to become more patient-centred, and to improve their operations and services, RNS is honoured to be part of the journey and to be the supplier of choice,” says RNS sales director, Richard Hill.
